Fighting Human Trafficking with Data
Wednesday, June 19 @ 2:10 PM - 2:40 PM Stage ARecognising the powerful contribution the financial sector can make to the anti-trafficking movement, the Thomson Reuters Foundation created the Banks Alliance Against Trafficking, a series of regional multi-stakeholder working groups that help financial institutions use their data to fight human trafficking.
The objective of each regional Banks Alliance working group is to map the financial footprint of human trafficking in the formal banking system and to develop red flag indicators of suspicious activity, tailored to each region. This session will explore how the alliance model brings together experts from financial institutions, NGOs and law enforcement agencies to end global exploitation, one region at a time. Prior to the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Antonio was Executive Producer at Bloomberg Television in charge of news, factual programming and documentaries for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, developing programming for a global audience. He holds a Degree in Journalism, and a Master’s Degree in Islam and Middle East studies.
