Communitech’s True North conference brings the best entrepreneurs, innovators, and thought leaders to connect, learn and help shift the power and control of technology in the right direction. However, it is not a place for behaviour that is intentionally inappropriate, off-topic, disruptive, or abusive. Inappropriate behaviour is defined as any form of verbal, physical or written abuse, use of derogatory or discriminatory language, gestures or actions, any form of harassment, racism, sexism, or any other targeted comments which are intended to cause personal offense to another participant either in-person at an event or through social media channels, or the violation of any local, provincial, or federal laws.
At its discretion, Communitech may take action to address any individual(s) or group(s) it believes to have undertaken any inappropriate behaviour, as outlined above, including but not limited to cancelling event registration without a refund.
If you believe you have observed or are a victim of any of the inappropriate behaviours described above, please contact TrueNorthInfo@communitech.ca immediately. Reminder that notifying Communitech does not replace a notification to local law enforcement and Communitech’s process may not readily meet the immediate need under the circumstances. You should feel free to take the appropriate actions under the circumstances, including contacting us regarding emergencies, immediately dialing 9-1-1, and for non-emergencies, reaching out to the Waterloo Regional Police Department at (519) 653-7700.

True North attendees have the right to be free of discrimination due to a disability, to receive fair and equal treatment and to obtain reasonable accommodations, which are necessary and appropriate on the basis of their specific disability. In order to enable Communitech to assist you with any accommodations required please send an email to TrueNorthInfo@communitech.ca.
Attendees with disabilities who require any assistance during a True North event can request support upon registration. Service animals trained specifically to assist people with disabilities are welcome at all events.
Communitech does NOT provide any personal prescribed devices or any services of a personal nature, including but not limited to wheelchairs, hearing aids, assistance with eating, washroom services or dressing. Attendees or presenters are encouraged to contact us at TrueNorthInfo@communitech.ca to discuss reasonable accommodations. Such services are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and dependent on sufficient notice and is subject to availability. The following services may be provided:

Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”) is technology that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. Communitech uses this technology in their conference badge provided to you for all True North events. At the time of entry your conference badge will be used to validate your entry. Your conference badge does not store any of your personal information, including but not limited to your name, phone numbers, mailing address and email address (“Personal Information”), you provided to Communitech when you signed up for any True North event. However, the conference badge does contain a distinctive code which Communitech associates with Personal Information you provided to Communitech at registration. This association allows Communitech to communicate with you at True North events you have signed up for.
We do not share any information with third parties and this restriction applies to any Personal Information provided at registration. To learn more about Communitech’s commitment to your privacy, please view Communitech’s Privacy Policy. After True North events have ended your conference badge will no longer be active and no longer have any Personal Information linked to it.
To ensure your conference badge works be sure not to bend or perforate any part of the conference badge. Communitech reserves the right to check and scan your conference badge at any time.

These terms of attendance (the “Terms”) apply to all attendees of a True North conference event. By registering to attend a True North conference event, you (the “Attendee”) agree to the Terms. Please do not sign up for any such events if you do not agree to the Terms.
Communitech at its sole discretion may either offer you an exchange or a refund if a True North event is cancelled or suspended. Attendees will be entitled to receive a full refund until Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11:59pm. No refunds will be granted after this date. In the event of a cancellation or suspension of True North, Communitech will inform Attendees through its website on procedures for making an exchange or refund.
The refund or exchange policy of Communitech may change from time to time, at Communitech’s sole discretion.
Badges can be picked-up at certain True North partner locations and on-site at the conference. Entry will not be allowed into any True North event without the provided conference badge.
Unlawful resale of conference badges is prohibited. Communitech reserves the right to cancel registrations of conference badges that have been used in connection with fraud, without any refund or further compensation.
Any alteration of a conference badge is strictly prohibited. Conference badges will be confiscated and immediately cancelled if it appears they have been altered in any fashion. Any Attendee with an altered conference badge will be denied entry to all further True North events where the conference badge is required.
Attendees are prohibited from carrying weapons of any kind and acting in any way contrary to law and our policies applicable to True North.
Each Attendee is responsible for the belongings they bring with them to any True North event. A lost and found will be located at the information desk at the main entrance to the conference venue where Attendees can drop off any items found. To retrieve lost items, Attendees can email TrueNorthInfo@communitech.ca with a description of the item and their contact information. Communitech is not responsible for any damage to items located in the lost and found or for return of any items to the rightful owner. Any unclaimed items remaining 60 days after the last True North event will be disposed of at Communitech’s discretion. All return costs will be borne by the owner of a lost item.
Each Attendee agrees that by attending any True North event they are granting Communitech permission to use any photographs, audio or video recording taken at the event for any purpose determined by Communitech.
Each Attendee assumes all risk, liability and responsibility for any and all harm or damages of any kind suffered by the Attendee during or in connection with a True North event. Each Attendee hereby waives all rights to claim damages, monetary or otherwise, or to institute civil, criminal, administrative or legal proceedings against Communitech, or its affiliates and other related entities, resulting from any cause of action arising out of any True North event.
Each Attendee indemnifies and holds harmless Communitech, and including but not limited to, its affiliates and other related entities, their directors, officers, administrators, managers, employees, representatives and all other persons acting on behalf of Communitech from and against any and all claims, actions, damages or other demands, arising from or related to the Attendee’s purchase of a wristband or attendance at a True North event.
Communitech will not be liable for any damage or claim made by an Attendee for reason of fire, explosion, accidents, hurricanes, tornados, flood, unusually severe or abnormal weather, war or threat of war, riots or civil commotion, acts of terrorism, acts of any governmental authority or agent, acts of God or any other circumstance or event beyond the reasonable control of Communitech.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws applicable within the Province of Ontario. Every Attendee submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario and agree that any such court will be the proper forum for the determination of any dispute of these Terms.
You agree that if you are registering on behalf of individuals from your organization, you have the power to bind such individuals and your organization to the Terms.
Every Attendee should also read and understand the RFID Policy, Event Code of Conduct, Privacy Policy and Terms of Condition for Disabled Attendees which apply to attendees at True North.
